Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 pound of ground beef and diced onions. Cook for about 8-10 minutes until fully browned and onions are translucent.
  3. Stir in a can of cream of mushroom soup and ½ cup of sour cream into the cooked beef mixture.
  4. Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray or butter and spread the beef mixture across the bottom.
  5. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
  6. Carefully arrange a layer of frozen tater tots over the cheese.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until tater tots are golden brown.
  8. Sprinkle an additional cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top and return to the oven for another 5 minutes.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
