  • 1 tsp Oregano Substitute with Italian seasoning if desired.
  • 1 tsp Garlic Salt Can be swapped with garlic powder and regular salt.
  • 1 tsp Salt Adjust according to dietary needs.
Base
  • 12 slices Party Rye Bread Try pumpernickel or other cocktail breads for a twist.
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Parsley Adds freshness and color as a garnish.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown 1 lb. of ground beef and 1 lb. of ground hot sausage for 8-10 minutes until thoroughly cooked. Stir occasionally and drain excess grease.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and add 8 oz. of Velveeta cheese cut into cubes. Stir continuously for about 3-4 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and creamy.
  3. Incorporate 1 tbsp. of Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp. of oregano, 1 tsp. of garlic salt, and a pinch of salt. Stir and keep warm for 2 minutes.
  4. Preheat your broiler to high and line a baking sheet with slices of party rye bread.
  5. Using a spoon, place about 2 tbsp. of the meat and cheese mixture onto each slice of rye bread, spreading it evenly.
  6. Place the baking sheet under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until the tops are golden brown and bubbly. Alternatively, bake at 350°F for 15-18 minutes.
  7. Once done, remove and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley. Serve warm.
