- Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 3 minutes.
- Add the Italian sausage to the hot skillet and sear on all sides for about 5–7 minutes.
- In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onions over medium heat for about 3–4 minutes until translucent.
- Add sliced bell peppers and chopped broccoli rabe to the skillet and sauté for another 5 minutes.
- Stir in the canned tomatoes and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Return the browned Italian sausage to the skillet and nestle them into the veggie mixture.
- Lower the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 10–15 minutes.
- Serve hot, either in a crusty hoagie, over creamy polenta, or with crusty bread.
