Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame seed oil, and a few dashes of hot sauce (to taste). Stir until well mixed and set aside.
  2. Heat ½ tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 diced red bell pepper and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until crisp-tender.
  3. Add 1 cup of diced ham and the chopped white parts of 2 green onions to the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the ham is slightly browned.
  4. Stir in 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté for an additional minute, then transfer to a bowl.
  5. In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and heat. Add 4 cups of cold, cooked white rice, breaking up clumps and heating through for about 8 minutes.
  6. Push the rice to one side of the skillet, crack in 2 large eggs, and scramble until fully set. Fold the eggs into the rice.
  7. Pour the prepared sauce over the rice mixture, stirring well until fully coated. Heat through for about 2 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and gently fold in 1 cup of pineapple pieces and the remaining green onion tops.
  9. Scoop the Hawaiian Fried Rice onto plates or bowls and serve hot.
